Procedure
The mixture of methyl 5-methyl-4-oxo-7-(pyridin-4-yl)thieno[2,3-d]pyridazine-3-carboxylate (1.70 g, 5.9 mmol) in EtOH (20 mL) and aq. NaOH solution (8%) was heated to reflux for 2 h. After completion of the reaction, the reaction mixture was concentrated in vacuum and the aqueous phase was washed with ether (50 mL). The aqueous layer was neutralized with aq. HCl (5%) to pH 6˜7 and filtered. The residual was recrystallized from EtOH to give the title compound as a yellow solid.
