Reaction Steps
The title compound was prepared from propionaldehyde and (E)-(2-nitrovinyl)benzene according to the general procedure. Both enantiomeric excess and diastereomeric ratio were determined by HPLC withan OD-H column at 210 nm (2-propanol:hexane=10:90), 1.0 mL/min; major enantiomer tmajor=22.06 min, minor enantiomer tminor=30.05 min. [α]D20=−28.8 (c=2.2, CHCl3).
