To a stirred solution of 6-(1,2-dihydroxyethyl)-N-((4,6-dimethyl-2-oxo-1,2-dihydropyridin-3-yl)methyl)-1-isopropyl-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridine-4-carboxamide (0.66 g, 1.65 mmol) in 50% THF/Water (12 mL), NaIO4 (1.06 g, 4.95 mmol) was added at 0° C. and stirred at room temperature for 1 h. After completion of reaction, solid was filtered and washed with water. Azeotrope it with toluene to obtain N-((4,6-dimethyl-2-oxo-1,2-dihydropyridin-3-yl)methyl)-6-formyl-1-isopropyl-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridine-4-carboxamide (0.515 g, 84.8%).
