Carbon Dioxide → Benzeneacetic acid, 4-bromo-
Reaction equation
[Br:1][C:2]1[CH:7]=[CH:6][C:5]([CH:8](C(O)=O)[C:9]([OH:11])=[O:10])=[CH:4][CH:3]=1.C(=O)=O>>[Br:1][C:2]1[CH:3]=[CH:4][C:5]([CH2:8][C:9]([OH:11])=[O:10])=[CH:6][CH:7]=1Participants

Procedure
2-(4-Bromophenyl)malonic acid (36 g, 11 mmol) was heated at 165° C. until evolution of CO2. the production was crystallized from petrol ether to give 2-(4-bromophenyl)acetic acid (26 g, 87%).
Workup
- customthe production was crystallized from petrol ether
