Procedure
A mixture of methyl 4-(6-methoxyquinoxalin-2-yl)benzoate (80 mg, 0.272 mmol) and aqueous NaOH (5 mL, 2M) in MeOH (5 mL) was stirred at 30° C. overnight. The resulting mixture was concentrated in vacuo. The residue was acidified with aqueous HCl (2M) until pH=3 and concentrated. The solid was dissolved in MeOH (30 mL) and filtered. The filtrate was concentrated in vacuo to give crude product (80 mg), which was used for next step directly without further purification.
