A solution of 477 mg (1.55 mmol) of 2-(4-amino-3-bromo-phenyl)-ethanesulfonic acid dimethylamide (as prepared in Example 28, step (c)) in toluene (13 mL) and EtOH (6.5 mL) was treated with 6.21 mL (12.4 mmol) of 2.0 M aqueous Na2CO3 and 403 mg (1.71 mmol) of 2-(4,4-dimethyl-cyclohex-1-enyl)-4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-[1,3,2]dioxaborolane. The mixture was degassed via sonication, placed under Ar, treated with 179 mg (0.155 mmol) of Pd(PPh3)4 and heated to 80° C. for 18 h. The mixture was cooled to RT, diluted with EtOAc (50 mL) and washed with water (1×50 mL). The aqueous layer was extracted with EtOAc (1×50 mL). The combined organic layers were dried (MgSO4) and concentrated in vacuo. Silica gel chromatography of the residue on a 50-g Varian MegaBond Elut SPE column with 50% EtOAc-hexane afforded 215 mg (41%) of the title compound as a white solid: Mass spectrum (ESI, m/z): Calcd. for C18H28N2O2S, 337.2 (M+H). found 337.1.
