Following general procedure E1, methyl 2-(4-((2-cyclopentyl-5,5-dioxido-7,8-dihydro-6H-thiopyrano[3,2-d]pyrimidin-4-yl)methyl)phenyl)acetate (0.060 g, 0.14 mmol) was reacted with DIBAL (1.0 M, 0.58 mL, 0.58 mmol) to afford the title compound (0.040 g, 71%) as a white solid. MW=386.51. 1H NMR (DMSO-d6, 500 MHz) δ 7.26 (d, J=8.5 Hz, 2H), 7.11 (d, J=8.5 Hz, 2H), 4.58 (t, J=5.5 Hz, 1H), 4.38 (s, 2H), 3.69-3.62 (m, 2H), 3.59-3.52 (m, 2H), 3.23 (quin, J=8.0 Hz, 1H), 3.06 (t, J=6.5 Hz, 2H), 2.66 (t, J=7.0 Hz, 2H), 2.33-2.25 (m, 2H), 2.00-1.91 (m, 2H), 1.81-1.56 (m, 6H); APCI MS m/z 387 [M+H]+.
