Procedure

A solution of 6-amino-7-fluoro-4H-benzo[1,4]thiazin-3-one (1 g, 5 mmol, Bioscience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry 1994, 58, 788) and (S)-epichlorohydrin (0.467 g, 5 mmol) in EtOH/H2O (9:1, 20 mL) was heated at 80° C. for 3 d. The volatiles were removed under reduced pressure and the residue was crystallized from MeOH to give a brown solid (0.83 g, 57%).
