A mixture of methyl 3-amino-4-(2,6-dichlorophenylethynyl)-benzoate (450 mg, 1.41 mmol) and palladium (II) chloride bis(acetonitrile) (90 mg, 347 μmol) in acetonitrile (5 mL) was heated at 65° C. for 2 h. The solvent was removed on under reduced pressure and the residue was purified by chromatography using a gradient of 10-30% heptane/ethyl acetate to give methyl 2-(2,6-dichlorophenyl)-1H-indole-6-carboxylate.
