Reaction Steps

Benzyl bromide (15 μL, 0.12 mmol) and K2CO3 (70 mg, 0.5 mmol) were added to a solution of N-ethylcarbamate-5-hydroxy-8-methyl-1,2,3,3a,8,8a-hexahydroindeno[1,2-c]pyrrole (26 mg, 0.1 mmol) in CH3CN (2 mL). The resulting mixture was stirred overnight at 80° C. The reaction was cooled to room temperature, concentrated by rotary evaporation and taken up in H2O (2.5 mL). The product was extracted with ethyl acetate (3×5 mL). The combined organic extracts were dried over MgSO4 and concentrated to afford the subtitle compound, which was used without further purification. MS calculated for C22H25NO3+H: 352, observed: 352.
