4-[4-(3,4-Difluoro-phenyl)-thiazol-2-yl]-2′-nitro-biphenyl-2-carboxylic acid (114 mg, 41%) was prepared from 2′-nitro-4-thiocarbamoyl-biphenyl-2-carboxylic acid methyl ester (which may be prepared as described for Intermediate 4) and 3,4-difluorophenacyl bromide (available from Matrix Scientific) using the procedure described for the preparation of Example 18. 1H NMR (300 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ 8.56 (d, J=1.7 Hz, 1H), 8.36 (s, 1H), 8.10-8.24 (m, 3H), 7.95-7.99 (m, 1H), 7.75-7.80 (m, 1H), 7.53-7.67 (m, 2H), 7.40-7.43 (m, 2H).
