A solution of 3-methyl-4-((E)-2-{4-[2-(4-nitrophenyl)ethyl]piperazin-1-yl}vinyl)benzonitrile (100 mg, 0.24 mmol) in 15 mL of methanol and 10 mL of DCM was added NaBH4 (508 mg, 2.4 mmol), then stirred at room temperature overnight. The crude product was purified via prepare TLC (methanol/DCM 1:10) to give 3-methyl-4-(2-{4-[2-(4-nitrophenyl)ethyl]piperazin-1-yl}ethyl)benzonitrile. 1H-NMR (300 MHz, CDCl3) δ ppm 8.12 (d, J=8.6 Hz, 2H), 7.23˜7.40 (m, 5H), 3.01˜3.21 (m, 2H), 2.80˜2.92 (m, 4H), 2.50˜2.65 (m, 10H), 2.33 (s, 3H). MS m/z: 379 (M+1)+. (0.062 μM)
