To a stirred solution of 6-bromo-7-chloro-3,4-dihydroquinolin-2(1H)-one (110-2; 2.95 g, 0.0113 mol) in toluene (50 mL) was added Lawesson's reagent (2.2 g, 0.00566 mol). Reaction mass was refluxed at 100° C. for 3 h. The reaction mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure and the residue was purified by silica gel (60-120 mesh) column chromatography using 7% ethyl acetate in hexane to afford the title compound. 1H NMR (400 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ 12.25 (s, 1H), 7.64 (s, 1H), 7.24 (s, 1H), 2.93-2.89 (t, J=6.8 Hz, 2H), 2.80-2.76 (t, J=8.0 Hz, 2H); MS (M+1): 275.8.
