To a stirred solution of 6-bromo-7-chloro-3,4-dihydroquinoline-2(1H)-thione (110-3; 1.8 g, 0.0065 mol) in n-butanol (80 mL) was added acetic hydrazide (1.2 g, 0.0162 mol). Reaction mass was refluxed for 16 h. The reaction mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure and the residue was purified by silica gel (60-120 mesh) column chromatography using 0-5% methanol in dichloromethane to afford title compound. 1H NMR (400 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ 7.91 (s, 1H), 7.81 (s, 1H), 2.96 (bs, 4H), 2.66 (s, 3H). MS (M+1): 296.0.
