A suspension of 6-chloro-8-[5-(1-cyclopropyl piperidin-4-yl)-[1,3,4]oxadiazol-2-yl]chroman-5-yl amine (14 grams, 37.3 mmol, obtained in the above step) in ethanol (280 mL) was heated to reflux until clear solution obtained. The mixture was cooled to room temperature and fumaric acid (4.32 grams, 37.3 mmol) was added. The reaction mixture was heated to reflux for 1 hour. The volatiles were removed under reduced pressure and the furmarate salt, thus obtained, was recrystallized from isopropanol to obtain 6-Chloro-8-[5-(1-cyclopropyl piperidin-4-yl)-[1,3,4]oxadiazol-2-yl]chroman-5-yl amine hemi fumarate (14.0 grams).
