Procedure
A mixture of 3-amino-5-(2-chlorophenyl)-6-(hydroxymethyl)-1,5-dihydro-4H-pyrazolo[4,3-c]pyridin-4-one obtained in Step H (450 mg), phthalic anhydride (321 mg) and 1,4-dioxane (5.20 mL) was refluxed overnight, and cooled to room temperature. The resulting solid was collected by filtration, and washed with ethyl acetate to give the title compound (320 mg).
