Procedure
To a mixture of 3-amino-5-(3-chloropyridin-4-yl)-1H-pyrazolo[4,3-c]pyridin-4(5H)-one obtained in Step D (0.25 g) and acetic acid (30 mL) was slowly added bromine (0.10 mL) at 60° C., and the reaction mixture was stirred at 60° C. for 3 hr. The solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure, and the residue was recrystallized from acetic acid to give the title compound (0.27 g).
