Using 4,4-dimethylcyclohex-2-enone (53 μL, 0.40 mmol) as substrate and vinylcyclohexene (0.14 mL, 1 mmol, 2.5 eq) as reagent and following General Procedure 3 overnight gave the above product (72 mg, 0.30 mmol, 75%) as a colourless oil after purification by column chromatography (1:49 EtOAc/petrol). The product compound was characterised using 1H NMR and 13C NMR, IR and MS. The presence of an enantioexcess was determined by derivatization using the procedure described in Example 1.
