38 mg of palladium on carbon at 10% were added to a solution of 0.35 g (1.68 mmol) of 7-hydroxy-2-methyl-6-nitro-2,3-dihydroisoindol-1-one in 20 ml of methanol under nitrogen. The reaction medium was stirred under a hydrogen atmosphere for 18 hours. The reaction medium was filtered and concentrated. The residue was chromatographed on a prepacked C18 column (12 g column, 30 ml/min, 95/5 water/acetonitrile). 0.19 g of product was obtained in the form of a brown oil. Yield=64%.
