Procedure
A suspension of 1 g of 2,3-dimethyl-9-phenyl-7,8,9,10-tetrahydroimidazo[1,2-h][1,7]naphthyridin-7-one in 15 ml of methanol is treated at room temperature with 450 mg of sodium borohydride in small portions. The resulting yellowish solution is stirred for 2 h and then diluted with ice water. The precipitate which is deposited is filtered off with suction and washed with a little cold 2-propanol. 800 mg of the title compound of melting point 210-12° C. are obtained.
