Reaction Steps
This compound was prepared according to the procedure of Example 2. A mixture of 4.6 g (0.02 mol) of N-(α,α,α-trifluoro-m-tolyl)piperazine (95%, Aldrich), 3.3 g (0.02 mol) of 5-(2-chloroethyl)-3-methyl-2-oxazolidinone, 6.4 g (0.06 mol) of anhydrous sodium carbonate and 0.4 g of potassium iodide in 100 mL of 1-butanol gave a gum as residue. This gum was dissolved in ethyl and converted to the hydrochloride salt. The solid salt was recrystallized from 2-propanol/absolute ethanol to yield 6.3 g (80%) of white solid, mp 220°-221° C. (dec).
