Procedure

A solution of 0.4 of (S)-3-hydroxy-1-[4-(1-pyrrolidinyl)-2-butynyl]-2-pyrrolidinone and 1.0 ml of acetic anhydride in 20 ml of dichloromethane was stirred overnight. The solvent was removed in vacuo. The residue was basified with potassium bicarbonate solution and extracted with dichloromethane. The dichloromethane solution was washed with water, dried, concentrated in vacuo and the residue was purified by chromatography (alumina), giving the desired product.
