A mixture of butyl (2E)-3-[4-({[(1,1 dimethylethyl)(dimethyl)silyl]oxy}methyl)-6-(methyloxy)-2-pyridinyl]-2-propenoate (4.84 g, 12.49 mmol) and 10% palladium on carbon in methanol (200 ml) was stirred at rt over one atmosphere of hydrogen for 3 h. The mixture was filtered through Celite and evaporated to give the desired product (4.76 g, 98%).
