Procedure
20 millimoles of 1-(4-chlorophenyl)-4-[2-(morpholine-4-yl)-ethyl]-1,4-dihydro-2H-isoquinoline-3-one were introduced, while stirring, into a suspension of 8 millimoles of phosphorus pentasulfide and 32 millimoles of calcium oxide in 50 ml of toluene and the whole was heated for 7 hours under reflux until the reaction was completed. The reaction mixture was decanted off to remove the resinous residue and extracted twice with toluene. The combined organic solutions were concentrated and the product was recrystallized from isopropanol. M.p.: 228°-231°C (HCl)
