20 g of m-benzoyl-phenyl acetic acid (prepared by process of French Pat. No. 1,546,478) and 100 ml of thionyl chloride were refluxed for 3 hours and then evaporated to dryness. Excess thionyl chloride was removed by entrainment with benzene to obtain 21.47 g of m-benzoyl-phenyl-acetic acid chloride.
