4.0 g of Z-Tyr(tBu)-Thr(tBu)-Gln-Asp(OtBu)-Phe-OCH3 in 100 ml of absolute pre-hydrogenated N,N-dimethylformamide are decarbobenzoxylated with hydrogen at room temperature with the addition of 1.4 g of 10 % strength palladium on charcoal. After completion of the hydrogen uptake the mixture is diluted with 400 ml of methanol, filtered and evaporated in vacuo. The colourless solid residue is used for the next stage without further purification.
