Hydrochloric Acid → Tetrahydrothienopyridine hydrochloride
Participants
| Role | Name | HCID | Charge |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reactant | Hydrochloric Acid | HCID 313 | — |
| Reactant | Formaldehyde | HCID 712 | — |
| Reactant | Dimethylformamide | HCID 6228 | — |
| Reactant | Thiopheneethanamine | HCID 116521 | — |
| Product | Tetrahydrothienopyridine hydrochloride | HCID 68420022 | — |
Reaction Steps
2-thienylethlamine was reacted with formaldehyde to give the corresponding formimine, which was then added to a solution of hydrochloric acid in DMF, resulting in cyclization to tetrahydrothienopyridine hydrochloride. The DMF used was anhydrous, KF≦0.05%, to avoid formimine hydrolysis.
