Procedure

Following the basic procedure of Example 19 (d), beginning with 503 mg (0.9 mmol) of methyl (Z)-4-[2-(5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-5,5,8,8-tetramethyl-2-naphthyl)-2-hexadecenamido]benzoate, 435 mg (89%) of (Z)-4-[2-(5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-5,5,8,8-tetramethyl-2-naphthyl)-2-hexadecenamido]benzoic acid of melting point 164°-5° C. were obtained.
