Procedure
A mixture of 2-methyl-1-(5-methyl-2-morpholinophenyl)-3-methyl-2-thiopseudourea hydroiodide (12.2 g prepared as described in Example 227), n-butylamine (2.4 g) and ethanol (80 ml) was stored at ambient temperature of 4 months. Lead acetate trihydrate (9 g) was then added and the mixture heated under reflux for one hour to yield 1-(n-butyl)-2-(4-methyl-2-morpholinophenyl)-3-methylguanidine which was converted into its monofumarate salt (m.p. 150° C.) which was recrystallised from a 1:2 mixture of methanol and ether.
