Reaction Steps
A mixture of 2-amino-6-{[4-(2,3-dichlorophenyl)-3-ethoxycarbonyl-5-methoxycarbonyl-6-methyl-1,4-dihydropyridin-2-yl]methoxymethyl}-4-pyrimidone (0.52 g), iodomethane (0.14 g) and potassium carbonate (0.14 g) in dimethylformamide (20 ml) was stirred at room temperature for 4 days and then evaporated. The residue was partitioned between chloroform and water and the organic layer washed twice with water, dried over anhydrous magnesium sulphate and evaporated. The residue was crystallised from ethyl acetate to give the title compound (0.23 g), m.p. 202°-205° C. Found: C,53.42; H,4.87; N,10.49. C24H26Cl2N4O6 requires C,53.64; H,4.88; N,10.43%.
