Reaction Steps
To a solution of (S)-2-benzyl-3-(cis-hexahydro-2-isoindolinylcarbonyl)propionic acid (1.38 g) in ethanol (5 ml) was added 2N sodium hydroxide solution (2.19 ml). After the solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure, the residue was crystallized from ethyl acetate to give 1.44 g of sodium (S)-2-benzyl-3-(cis-hexahydro-2-isoindolinylcarbonyl)propionate monohydrate.
