Reagents, catalysts & solvents 1
Procedure
A mixture of 2.7 g of the product obtained in Stage A above with 1.55 g of Lawesson reagent in 25 cm3 of toluene is taken to reflux for 3 hours 15 minutes. After cooling, the solvent is eliminated and the residue is chromatographed on silica (eluant: ethyl acetate - n-hexane (3-7)). 2.32 g of the desired product is obtained. M.p.=152.5-153° C. after dissolution in ethyl acetate and precipitation with hexane.
