A solution of the title A compound, 3-[5-(2,4-dimethoxybenzyl)-1,1,4-trioxo-1,2,5-thiadiazolidin-2-yl]benzoic acid methyl ester is stirred in 2 mL of TFA/CH2Cl2 (1:1) at RT for 16 h. The volatiles are evaporated and the residue is stirred in 4 mL of MeCN/water (1:1) for 20 min. The mixture is filtered through a 0.2 μM Acrodisc and evaporated. The residue is triturated from Et2O at −50° C. to give 3-(1,1,4-trioxo-1,2,5-thiadiazolidin-2-yl)benzoic acid methyl ester as a pink solid: [M−1]−=269.
