Reaction Steps

To a solution of Example 9D (1.50 g, 2.36 mmol) in THF (25 mL) under N2 at −78° C. was added tert-butyllithium (1.7 M in pentane, 3.0 mL, 5.10 mmol). The resulting reddish-purple solution was stirred for 30 minutes at the same temperature and then quenched with HOAc (0.56 mL, 9.77 mmol) and warmed to RT. The solvent was removed and the resulting oil was dissolved in ethyl acetate (100 mL), washed with H2O and brine, dried (Na2SO4), filtered, and concentrated. Purification on silica gel with a gradient of 10% hexanes/CH2Cl2 to 3% ethyl acetate/CH2Cl2 provided 1.13 g (86%) of the desired compound as a white foam.
