A solution of Example 9E (1.255 g, 2.25 mmol) in DMF (20 mL) under N2 at 0° C. was treated with NaH (60% dispersion in mineral oil, 180 mg, 4.50 mmol) and allowed to stirr for 30 minutes. Benzylchloroformate (0.68 mL, 4.50 mmol) was added, the mixture was allowed to stir for 2 hours, and HOAc was added. The solvent was removed and the residue was dissolved in ethyl acetate (100 mL), washed with H2O and brine, dried (Na2SO4), filtered, and concentrated. Purification over silica gel with 30% hexanes/CH2Cl2 provided 1.19 g (77%) of the desired compound as a white solid.
