Reaction Steps
To pentane washed sodium hydride (0.048 g, 1.2 mmol) in 5 ml of THF at 0° C., 2-(tert-Butyldimethylsilyl)-4-(hydroxyquinolin-4-yl-methyl)-imidazole-1-sulfonic acid dimethylamide (example 8, step A) (0.375 g, 0.811 mmol) was added slowly over a period of 5 minutes. After stirring at room temperature for 15 minutes, it was, again cooled to 0° C. and methyl iodide (0.1 ml, 1.62 mmol) was added neat. The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 1 hour, concentrated under reduced pressure and partitioned between EtOAc (10 ml) and water (10 ml). The organic layer was dried over sodium sulfate, filtered and concentrated to yield 0.32 g (83%) of the product as a syrup.
