To a stirred solution of 2-methyl-4-[1-[3-fluoro-4-(methylsulfonyl)phenyl]-3-(trifluoromethyl)-1H-pyrazol-5-yl]phenol (0.332 g, 0.8 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (10 ml) was added sulfuryl chloride (0.113 g, 0.84 mmol) at room temperature, and the mixture was stirred for 30 minutes. The reaction mixture was poured into water, and the whole was extracted with CH2Cl2. The organic layer was washed with brine, dried over MgSO4, and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was recystallized with CH2Cl2-hexane to give the subtitle compound (0.318 g, 88.6% yield).
