An ethanol mixture (20 ml) of 24-7 (89 mg, 0.18 mmol), mercuric oxide (78.8 mg, 0.36 mmol) and sulfur (1.8 mg, 0.056 mmol) was refluxed for 2 hr. After cooling, the mixture was filtered and the filtrate concentrated to a semi-solid which was purified by flash chromatography (20% MeOH/CH2Cl2) to provide 24-8 as a solid.
