A mixture of 1-cyclopentyl-3-ethyl-5-amino-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxamide (1.87 g), 3-[4-morpholinylcarbonylmethoxy]benzaldehyde (2.1 g, 8.43 mmol) and xylenes (20 ml) was heated at 160° C. for about 2 days. The solvent was removed, then methanol was added to the residue and the product was collected by filtration. Additional product was obtained from the filtrates and the product fractions were pooled and recrystallized from CH3CN/CHCl3 to afford 1-cyclopentyl-3-ethyl-6-[3-(4-morpholinylcarbonylmethoxy)-phenyl]pyrazolo[3,4-d]pyrimidin-4-one, m.p. 212°-213° C.
