Reaction Steps

A mixture of the compound of Example III (500 mg, 1.8 mmol), 2-chloro-2-diethylaminoquinazoline (467 mg, 2.0 mmol) and Hunig's base (0.4 ml), 2.7 mmol) in 5 ml of butyronitrile was reacted for 12 hours at 120° C. After cooling, ethyl acetate (50 ml) and 50 ml of sodium hydroxide (10%) were added. The phases were separated and the aqueous phase was extracted with ethyl acetate (2×25 ml). The combined organic phases were dried (Na2SO4), concentrated on a rotary evaporator and purified by chromatography on silica gel (eluent: methylene chloride/ethanol/ammonia, 100/10/1) to give the free base as a solid.
