Hydrochloric Acid → Donepezil Hydrochloride
Participants
| Role | Name | HCID | Charge |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reactant | Hydrochloric Acid | HCID 313 | — |
| Reactant | Donepezil | HCID 3152 | — |
| Reactant | Diisopropyl Ether | HCID 7914 | — |
| Solvent | Ethanol | HCID 702 | — |
| Product | Donepezil Hydrochloride | HCID 5741 | 82.1% |
Reaction Steps
10 g of Donepezil was dissolved in 100 ml of ethanol under heating. Under stirring, 150 ml of a mixture of concentrated hydrochloric acid (3.1 g) and ethanol (28 ml) was added, followed by addition of 150 ml of diisopropyl ether. Filtration of the crystals after 15 minutes from the separation and drying under atmosphere afforded 9.0 g of the title compound with a yield of 82.1% and melting point of 224-226° C. (Decomposition).
