Participants
| Role | Name | HCID | Charge |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reactant | Hydrochloric Acid | HCID 313 | — |
| Reactant | Donepezil | HCID 3152 | — |
| Solvent | Acetonitrile | HCID 6342 | — |
| Product | Donepezil Hydrochloride | HCID 5741 | 95.8% |
Reaction Steps
1.0 g of Donepezil was almost dissolved in 9 ml of acetonitrile at 21° C. The solution was cooled in an iced water bath. 0.31 g of Concentrated hydrochloric acid in 1 ml of acetonitrile was added hereinto. The solution became homogeneous. It continued stirring over night at room temperature. Filtration of the separated crystals followed by drying afforded 1.05 g of the title compound. (water content: 0.05%)
