A solution of 6-hydroxymethyl-5-(2-methoxymethoxy-4-methoxyphenyl)4-propoxy-pyrimidine in CH2Cl2 was treated with MnO2 and stirred vigorously for 24 h. The mixture was filtered through celite and concentrated to afford the tide compound (1.48 g, 62%).
