Reaction Steps

The product of step (i) (6.56 g) was treated with a 1M solution of tetra-n-butyl ammonium fluoride in tetrahydrofuran (28.2 ml) and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 16 hours. The solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure and the residue was purified by flash chromatography on silica-gel eluting with 10% methanol in ethyl acetate to give 5-(9-hydroxyfluoren-9-yl)uridine as a pale yellow solid (3.43 g).
