0.09 mole (25 g) of 2-(β-hydroxyethyl)amino-6-(β-hydroxyethyl)amino-4-chloronitrobenzene in 100 ml of a 25% sodium methylate solution in methanol was heated over a boiling water bath. After heating for 1 hour 30 minutes the desired product was precipitated out of the reaction medium by adding 250 g of ice water. After filtering and hot drying under vacuum in the presence of P2O5, the desired product was recrystallized from 96° ethanol. It melted at 150° C.
