To a solution of compound 11a in 26 mL of acetonitrile was added 4 mL of 48% HF. The solution was stirred for 72 h. The solution was diluted with chloroform and washed with water. The organic fraction was dried over MgSO4 and concentrated and the residue chromatographed over silica gel (5:1 hexane/ethyl acetate) to give 8-[(phenoxymethyl)carbonyloxy]-1-hydroxy-bicyclo[7.3.1]trideca-4,9-diene-2,6-diyn-13-one (11b) (116 mg).
