The product from step (e) (0.08 g) was dissolved in ethanol (25 ml) and 10% w/w Pd/C (0.23 g) added. The mixture was stirred under 1 atmos. pressure of hydrogen for 7 hours when uptake was complete. The mixture was filtered through celite and the filtrate evaporated in vacuo to give the desired product as colourless oil which was eluted through a silica column using DCM/EtOH/NH4OH (50:8:1) as eluant.
