Procedure

Sodium borohydride (193 mg) was added to a solution of 1-[4-[4-[[2-[(E)-2-[4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]ethenyl]-1,3-oxazol-4-yl]methoxy]phenyl]butyl]-1H-imidazole-2-carbaldehyde (2.30 g) in methanol at 0° C., and the mixture was stirred at 0° C. for 1 hr. The reaction mixture was combined with water and concentrated to give crystals, which were washed with water and recrystallized from ethyl acetate-hexane to give the titled compound (2.16 g) as a colorless crystal powder.
