2,2,2-Trifluoro-1-[(2R,6S)-10-methoxy-6,11,11-trimethyl-9-nitro-1,2,5,6-tetrahydro-4H-2,6-methano-benzo[d]azocin-3-yl]-ethanone (0.41 g) is combined with benzylamine (0.7 mL) and the resulting mixture is stirred at 70° C. overnight. After cooling to room temperature, the mixture is purified by HPLC on reversed phase (MeCN/H2O/F3CCO2H) to give the product as an oil.
