Procedure

Boron tribromide (2.8 mL) is added to a solution of cyclopentyl-[(2R,6S)-10-methoxy-6,11,11-trimethyl-1,2,5,6-tetrahydro-4H-2,6-methano-benzo[d]azocin-3-yl]-methanone (280 g) in dichlormethane (10 mL). The resulting solution is stirred at ambient temperature for 2 h and then quenched by the addition of water. The organic phase is separated, washed with water and dried (Na2SO4). Evaporation of the solvent under reduced pressure affords the product.
